A Coastal Day Road Trip to Hermanus

We will head towards the coastal town of Gordon’s Bay and have a few stops at the lookout points on the famous Clarence Drive. The views of the mountains, high cliffs and the majestic breaking waves that you will experience are some of the best around Cape Town, in South Africa and probably in the whole of the world. We will take time to show you the hidden lookouts and take some breath-taking pictures.

After that we will continue to Hermanus, which is one of the best towns to visit not only in the Western Cape, but also in the whole of South Africa. It was also previously recognized as the whale-watching capital of the world.

Once in Hermanus we will stop downtown, and you will have up to 4 hours to explore this wonderful gem in whatever way you decide to. We will of course provide the best recommendations on what to do and where to eat out. This wonderful place has to offer a lot for any taste.

Once you have explored, had something to eat at one of the local places and soaked in the beauty of nature and the architecture of Hermanus,  we will start our trip back.

We will travel through the famous Elgin Valley, where some of the world famous South African wines are made. On the way we will stop at a couple of farm stalls, which represent one of the most famous attractions of our country.

Before driving through back to Cape Town, we will end off the fun with sundowners at one of the lookout points of the  Elgin Valley. We promise you will never forget the view you will get to experience.

Costs per person: from CHF 120 incl. transport, snacks, softdrinks

Hike and cooking lunch on top of Chapman’s Peak

We will be hiking up Chapman’s Peak, which arguably features the most magnificent views that you could find around the whole of the Cape Peninsula. Many say this is the most scenic hike you could do in and around Cape Town.

The viewing spots are aplenty, and we promise you will never forget the landscapes you encounter.
The hike up will take just under 2 hours, and a bit shorter on the way back. It is moderately difficult but gets quite strenuous in a few parts.

The hike starts at the beginning of Chapman’s Peak Drive and goes all the way up to the top of the mountain.

The landscapes are just getting better as you ascend.

Once you start approaching the top you are getting an all-around view of the Cape Peninsula, Hout Bay, and my absolute favourite – the endless and astonishing Noordhoek Breach.

Those are the views that will complement your lunch, which we will cook for you just there, using our outdoor cooking equipment.

We would spend about an hour on top, so there would be more than enough time for photos.

Costs per person: from CHF 80 incl. transport, lunch, softdrinks

Traditional South African Lunch Barbecue (Braai) and Picnic Experience Next to the Ocean

We will be making for you a full traditional South African Braai at the Oudekraal day picnic area, situated in Camps Bay. It is an extremely scenic spot that features spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, Table Mountain, and Lion’s Head.

If you are brave enough to swim in the cold of the Atlantic, and if the season allows, there are great swimming spots and beautiful hidden cosy beaches with crystal clear water at the picnic site.

While the food is being made, we will guide you through the process and tell all the secrets that locals have in their arsenal when it comes to making an amazing barbecue, or “Braai” as we call it here.

The whole outing will take anything from 4 to 5 hours, and you will walk away full, entertained, blown away by the beauty of nature, and a lot more knowledgeable about how we braai here in South Africa.

Menu:

Lamb Chop and Boerewors (South African Sausage)

Three Bean Salad

Potato Salad

Braai Broodtjies (cooked on fire South African Sandwiches)

Malva Pudding (a mind-blowing local dessert)
